As the Telaran sun sets on the Carnival of the Ascended, a violent new day breaks next week as Trion Worlds launches Infernal Dawn, the next Rift™ content update. The update’s centerpiece is a new 20-person raid that pits players against the dragon lords Maelforge and Laethys within the volcanic depths of Ember Isle’s Mount Carcera. Additional features include a guild finder tool, leaderboards, Fishing and Survival tradeskills, and Instant Adventure on Ember Isle.

21,879 marriages took place in Rift™ on Valentine’s Day, setting the Guinness World Record® title for most in-game marriages in 24 hours
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. – Feb. 16, 2012 – Trion Worlds, the leading publisher and developer of premium games for the connected era, announced today that players of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), Rift™, set the world record for the most in-game marriages in a 24-hour period. Officially recorded for the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition®, 21,879 marriages were confirmed between 9am PST, Feb. 14 and 9am PST, Feb. 15.
Guinness World Records will log the marriages and the record will be considered for inclusion in the 2013 edition of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition. All participating players received the unique in-game title “The Avowed,” and hopefully snapped some wedding images to share with their children.
“Establishing this record was a monumental achievement for our development team and community of passionate players, and I couldn’t be more proud,” said Scott Hartsman, Executive Producer on Rift and Trion’s CCO. “Ascended Weddings were a great way to lift the veil on Rift’s new ‘Gatherings’ feature, social experiences that bring players together in new and interesting ways. Rift introduced the in-game marriage feature with its latest content release, “Carnival of the Ascended,” the seventh major update introduced by Trion sinceRift launched in March 2011. Rift has seen more than one million activations since launch, and Trion has revealed that the title broke 100 million dollars in revenue in under a year. Also launched with the Carnival of the Ascended update was Rift Lite, which enables anyone with a Trion account to access Rift with no time or cost restrictions up to level 20. Rift Lite is accessible across all servers to anyone with a Trion account, giving potential Ascended a risk-free opportunity to play the game IGN called the “Best MMO Game” of 2011. Players of the online game Rift™ will attempt to set Guinness World Records® title for virtual marriages
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. – January 25, 2012 – Been thinking about popping the question in real life, but you aren’t quite ready? Why not start with a virtual marriage? Online game developer and publisher, Trion Worlds is giving you a chance to virtually marry that special someone this Valentine’s Day, and in doing so you can be part of a new world record. Trion announced today that it will attempt to make videogame history this Valentine’s Day by establishing the world record for most virtual marriages in a 24 hour period. Trion’s wildly successful massively multiplayer online game (MMOG), Rift™ - MMORPG.com’s Game of the Year 2011 and IGN.com’s Best MMO Game 2011 - will serve as the venue for the record attempt, which will begin at 9am PST on February 14.

Just like getting married in real life, tying the knot in the virtual world of Telara couldn’t be easier with the new wedding functionality about to be introduced to the Rift game world in Update 1.7 at the beginning of February. Players simply visit a marriage vendor in their faction’s capital city, purchase a ring, and humbly offer it to the object of their affection. For a classier, more involved affair, players can launch wedding events, incredibly fun scripted ceremonies that involve a walk down the aisle in wedding garb, a ring exchange, and a reception for up to 200 friends.
Marriage in Telara is an equal opportunity venture, with any two consenting player characters able to wed regardless of character race or sex, with the sole restriction being that members of the opposing factions are unable to tie the knot. Any player with a Trion Account is eligible to take part in the event, and a Valentine’s Day-exclusive in-game title (“Tier of Knots”) will be awarded to each wedded character.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Rift™-Mas - Fae Yule comes to Telara for six weeks of Fae gone wild, corgi companions, and plenty of mead
Freshly freed from Greenscale’s clutches, the Fae of Telara are ready to party this holiday season … and it’s going to get crazy. Starting today, Rift™ kicks off a six week, three phase world event known as “Fae Yule,” an epic in-game celebration that features fancy holiday hats, new quests, a grumpy mead-guzzling satyr, and other festive items. But it’s not all candy canes and cocoa. Crucia, the Dragon of Air, seeks to ruin the festivities by enslaving the Fae anew, and it’s up to Ascended to crush her plans and save Fae Yule.
